Hand Picking and Other Mecahnical Harvesters

-In most places of the world, cherry trees are hand-picked.

-This is a major cost to growers of traditional sour cherries.

-Dwarf sour cherries are superior in that they are bush shaped rather than tree shapes like traditonal sour cherries.

-An over the row harvester is possible for dwarf sour cherries because of its shape.

-There has been continuous development of harvesters that shake these trees and knock the fruit off but they don't yet have a continuous over the row harvester because the trees are too big.
