PLASTICULTURE:
* crowns are planted into raised beds (6")
* raised beds are covered with stretchy black plastic (clear allows more weed growth)
* allows for quick harvesting - fruit is clean and lies against the plastic
* mother plants are allowed to grow - daughter plants are discouraged
* the norm in California and Florida
* experimental in Saskatchewan
MATTED ROWS
* mother plants planted in rows
* daughter plants allowed to root and fruit
* rows widen as daughters establish
* narrower rows 8-10" (Ribbon rows) increase light penetration resulting in less disease, higher quality fruit, etc.
* cover in November with straw mulch

* traditional method
